Barfili Sham

Barfili Sham is an airy blue cotton saree inspired by the easy pleasure of a cool drink on a sunlit day. Its soft, ice-blue base creates an immediate feeling of calm, while dainty geometric Jamdani motifs bring a playful, unexpected detail to the drape. The small woven motifs are inspired by ice cubes and chilled drinks, scattered across the blue ground like tiny moments of colour. Their geometric form gives the saree a contemporary note, while the Jamdani technique keeps the detail tactile and craft-led. Technique: Handweaving (Jamdani) on traditional pit looms.

How It’s Done: The warp and weft threads are carefully arranged, and contemporary motifs are handwoven thread by thread. Every step is done by hand, ensuring precision and intricate detailing in the patterns.

Time Taken: 3 weeks to hand-prepare the loom and 2 days to hand-weave one saree.
